I am watching "YourBabyCanRead" and this is the same technique from the first grade used on 2 and 3 year olds. This may be fine, but it does not teach the child to think, and imagine, and many other forms of higher order activity. It is nothing like what I went through, but lots like what I have seen. Will the technique here be better or worse? It is beyond your imagination the difference how these two systems will effect learning. This system on my site progresses at the independent speed of the child in immesurable ways. Any improvement in reading is an advantage, filling valuable capacity with skills they may not understand and don't need yet may not be optimum. The two schools of thought do not compare well.
I am very excited about the work which has been ongoing for 40 years.  Since I first taught myself to read when I was 5.  There wasn't much else to do.    I thought it was so much fun.  There were differences, and it took a long time to learn how to quantify and qualify the unbelievable advantages.

The book and reading technique are all mine but I am sharing.  THE BOOK IS "THE LEONARD ALAN READING TECHNIQUE or THE L.A. READING TECHNIQUE:  Good for what ails the reader because they are so talented, no one knows any perfect direction, so they become overwhelmed.  Let me assure you at any level you will see that this book provides a perfect direction for positive growth.  The book helps with:  First time or advanced readers, English as a Second Language, Adult Literacy, the technique works with any language that uses an alphabet, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, starting a professional vocabulary such as Medical or Law school, and lots more.   WHY AND HOW?   It took a long time to explain in so few words, leaving a lot up to known constructs that took decades to arrange using typical problems with personal computers and comparing them to problems with learning.  This is a 40 year work and will start the reader off right.   It will be the best book you ever read, and teacher/parent and student will read it over and over (Just my opinion but let me know I am just about certain.).

Remember:
At this stage the child should only be learning the mechanics of sounding out words, and becoming very comfortable with the alphabet and individual words.   Grammar, and comprehension will come later.  Practicing this technique builds a great reading vocabulary, builds tremendous confidence, and makes those other tasks less difficult.   Also, the book is formatted in a magazine or newspaper format.  This is more than I wanted, but is still a great way to familiarize the reader with other formats.  There is still just a paragraph or two per page, and the reader will turn a page a minute.   The book is meant for the teacher or parent, but is ultimately written for the new reader to complete in full eventually.   One more thing, I stated 5 years and up, but I was trying to read earlier.  A couple of my sisters told me that I was reading out load some words when I was 3 years old.    There was no kindergarten, but I made up for it with reading.    There is a book in the works entitled "The Word Detective"  it is about learning words and finding how everyone else says them, and what they mean.  All without asking anyone, just understand that we need shiploads of genius to start a Rennaisance.

One more note:  The book will never be an E-Book.  It is about holding  a tree, and turning the leaves.  Nothing personal, I have the coloring book as a PDF.  This book is very special.

P.S.   I am not encouraging anyone to go to remote places to read.   I was not allowed to leave my yard so I read by my trees in the front and back yard.    Together we imagined being anywhere or anywhen that we read about.   LOL.
That's me in front on the right.   My four sisters, older and younger brother.  My mom was a nurse so we had all sorts of medical books to read, the encyclopedia, and other fun stuff.  My dad was a mechanic, not in the picture here.
